Dietary habits to be followed for both white teeth

10 min read

We all crave healthy and white teeth. As a result, some people turn to dental treatment for artificial teeth whitening. The diet we follow has a huge impact on the health of our teeth. Therefore, it is very important to be aware of what foods are good and bad for our dental health from what we eat.

01.Foods that protect teeth and gums

Here are some diets recommended by dentists to maintain good dental health.

  • Carrots – Carotene has a beneficial effect on the mucous membranes of the mouth and gums. They strengthen the enamel of the teeth. Adding fresh carrots to the diet can help maintain two healthy teeth. Carrots remove gums from the teeth and give a massage to the gums.
  • Fish – Calcium and phosphorus in fish are important nutrients for healthy teeth (although it is important to be careful as eating fish can cause bad breath).
  • Parsley – Parsley contains calcium and other nutrients needed for healthy teeth.
  • Apple – Apple is very good in treating dental problems and preventing dental problems. Apples keep the mouth fresh by removing the gums from the teeth and giving a massage treatment to the gums.
  • Kiwi – A fruit rich in vitamin C. People with vitamin C deficiency can even have conditions such as decreased collagen production and bleeding gums.
  • Onion – This is a natural antibiotic that kills harmful bacteria in the mouth.
  • Sesame – Strengthens enamel by removing glue from teeth.
  • Cheese – Hard cheeses are low in salt and high in calcium. Cheese balances the pH of the mouth and prevents the growth of harmful bacteria. (However, some cheeses can cause bad breath)
  • Greene Tea – The catechin in this drink kills the bad bacteria that cause cavities. It also keeps the mouth fresh.

Even if you enjoy tasty food, eating snacks that are always mouth-watering can damage your teeth. The best thing to do is to rinse your mouth thoroughly after you eat something.

02.Can foods affect the color of teeth?

Yes, certain foods you eat can cause the natural color of your teeth to fade. Here are some foods that can change the color of your teeth and damage it.

  • Tea and Coffee – Drinks such as green tea and white tea have the least damage to the color of the teeth. These harmful effects can be minimized by mixing lemon or milk.
  • Red wine – The high content of tannins in wine and the red color of the wine can have a detrimental effect on the teeth. After drinking wine, rinse your mouth with clean water. But do not brush your teeth immediately after drinking wine. It can cause even more damage to your teeth.
  • Juices – Juices from brightly colored fruits and vegetables can have a detrimental effect on tooth color. This is because they contain an acid that weakens the teeth. This acid allows the color components of the drink to be better absorbed into the mouth. There, the color of the teeth may change. When we eat berries and vegetables, our mouth produces saliva and the food coloring goes away with it. But this does not happen when they are made into juices.
  • Beets and Bilberries – Contain high concentrations of pigments, which cause the teeth to turn wild yellow when ingested.
  • Spices – Curry powder and turmeric powder change the color of teeth. They can cause teeth to turn yellow or red. These stains are not easy to remove once they occur. So after eating something with spices, drink green tea or lemon to minimize its effects.
  • Soy Sauce Vinegar (balsamic vinegar) – This food leaves dark spots on the teeth.
  • Soda containing pigments – Soda drinks contain a chemical (artificial) pigment that destroys the color of the teeth. Their effect is to destroy the enamel of the teeth. Rinse your mouth after eating these foods to minimize the negative effects of these foods on your teeth.

03.Natural bleaches

  • Pears – removes gums from teeth, protecting gums
  • Pumpkin – The best natural bleaching vegetable that can be used. They can be baked and eaten as a smoothie or as a smoothie.
  • Strawberry – Although it has a bright color, strawberries have whitening properties. The acids in it help to remove the gums from the teeth.
  • Broccoli – Removes dark spots on teeth. Eating these while they are fresh will give more beneficial results to your teeth. You can also add them to salads or boiled foods.
  • Celery – The properties of celery kill the bad bacteria in the mouth by removing the gums in the teeth.
  • Orange – Citrus acids in oranges whiten teeth. However, people with sensitive gums and teeth should be careful when using these.
  • Parsley – As a habit, bite the parsley leaf and rinse your mouth after any meal.

04.Foods that affect bad breath and bacterial activity

  • Severe bad breath can sometimes be a sign of a serious illness or a pre-existing condition.
This means that if you are healthy, you need to control the activity of harmful bacteria in your mouth.
  • Some foods cause bad breath. Sulfur compounds may be produced in the stomach during digestion of certain foods. They can be absorbed into the bloodstream and excreted through the lungs.
Bad breath can occur for a long time after eating certain foods.
